“What makes it okay” is a huge mystery. A mystery that never seems to fully unfold.
A mystery that never sees the light of day. It stays in the dark, dismissing your need to know that it will be okay.
That sudden urge of wanting to know, but accepting the answer of ‘who knows,’ annoys and crawls around your heart and mind. Lingering like a cat about to attack its prey.
Frustration builds and impatience grows. Let it.
Let it linger and accept the answer no. It is not the ideal answer you had hoped to accept. But, it’s the only answer available that makes sense.
So you did not get your way? Who cares?
Who cares that one thing did not go your way. Who cares that out of all of the stuff you have, you did not add this.
The outcome you desired may not have been won. You may not have conquered it, but that does not matter.
This is not about making you feel good, and handing you a participation trophy. This is a solid fact.
A fact that we don’t always get what we want. A fact that sometimes, we lose. We may not be used to losing, but again- look what you’ve won.
You have won perspective. You have won self-respect. You have won the opportunity to look back and realize that you don’t always get your preferred way.
You get what you get.
You get the chance to reflect. You get the chance to decide your next move. You get the chance to move on, and find your silver lining.
You get the opportunity to not settle for something not meant to be. You get to look in the mirror and say, “I am going to make this new day, my b****.”
