Version of Peace

Peace is a word that I have been searching for most of my life. At times, I felt so far away from what I thought was peace, that I just accepted the fact that it was a word that was not going to describe my life.

But then- you hit a spot. When the rain clouds turn to clearer skies, the situations that you’ve been in either resolve themselves, or you correct them. The impatience of wanting better- but not getting better outweighs the amount of work it will take to find a better path than the current one you are on. So, you choose to work towards your version of peace.

There are some people who thrive in chaos. Their world is not right unless there is zero peace. Chaos is their fuel, and is what gets them up every day. But, at what cost?

There are multiple ways peace can be described in my opinion. War with your own mind. War with others in your life. Or, you can literally be a part of a war in life that grants you little to no peace.

The type of peace I like to reflect on most is the peace I find within my own life. What are the people, things, or places that center me?

People

There are either people who are set out to drain you, or uplift you. Some people struggle with finding peace within their own lives. They do not know how to find it themselves or struggle to grapple with the thought of working towards something that will take a lot of self-improvement on their part. It is important when you are on your own path of self-improvement to reflect how you are treating people that you are reaching out to for help.

There are some people who are known to be kind, who will give you their last piece of themselves to try and make you feel better. When this person does that- always remember. Be sure to still give when there is much taking, taking place.

Uplift when you still feel drained. Do not overextend yourself, but it is important to find your own yin and yang balance within your own life. It is okay to back away and throw down your boundary lines. But do know, some see boundary lines, and walk right over them. Be assertive with knowing how much you can give- to provide comfort and peace to others.

Things

What are the things in your life that bring you peace? For example, my dog is one of the wonderful things that I get to have in this season of life. She brings me so much more peace than negativity. She loves unconditionally. She knows that if I am crying, she needs to be right there to lick the tears off of my face. She has some sort of code that knows that I need her to feel better.

Find the things in your life that bring you peace.

Places

The stillness that lies within the mountains bring me peace. There is nothing like hiking into the forest and just sitting. Listening to the nature around me, centers me, and brings calmness to my overactive mind. Also, listening to music with headphones- dancing around my place makes me calm.

Reflect on the places within your life that bring you calm. Different landscapes can each provide you certain types of calm. Finding yours is important to self-improving yourself and working towards peace.

Peace is a word that needs to be on the forefront of the mission of self-improvement. Finding peace allows one to have clarity, and allows one to step outside of their own personal chaos bubbles and see that everything in the end, will be alright.
