Ya Know

A beautiful thing begins as you get older. You begin to understand yourself in new ways. You slowly become accepting of yourself as you continue to grow and learn.

As a person who appears to have it all together, boy have I tricked a lot of people. Most times, it’s trial and error and something works out. Working at things is how you progress in life. I don’t understand the methodology of sitting around and hoping something works out.

That is not how life works in my eyes. But hey, if you believe that and are willing to sit there and wait- knowing it may or may not happen-more power to you.

As I wrote that I am getting the image of an old man sitting on his front porch about to tell a “back in my day,” story.

As I have gotten older, I enjoy my company more. I enjoy my alone time. I think it is important to become your own best friend.

I have been critical of myself in the past in more ways than one. I hold myself on a high pedestal.

For example, there are fast food joints that I don’t eat at for more reasons than one. I ‘indulged’ myself for the first time in years and ordered a small fry as this place is known for their French fries.

However, I learned that I could have gone without them as they were not as good as I remembered. What that experience allowed me is the opportunity to loosen the reins on myself a bit. Enjoy food that is standardly terrible for you on the rare occasion.

Our biggest critic is typically ourselves. But ya know what? We can change that.

Recently, I have began to focus myself more on the things that matter and the things I need to focus on.

I have begun to become more confident and speak about new opportunities that I hope will happen as a ‘only matter of time,’ before they work out. I know that I am putting in the work. So, surely something will come of new opportunity.

Think about your own life for a minute. What are the things you are putting forth effort in? Is it your relationships with others? Your career?

For those that know me well, they know that I am a bottom-line type of person and do not like to drag things out.

So, in my spirited fashion. I will talk to you like I would talk to a friend.

Get to it.

Get to whatever you want to improve in your life. I can’t tell you how to do it. I think too many people look at other people and try and copy-cat their chosen path. There is not a one-size fits all. We are all different and unique with our life approaches.

This sounds like a terrible, YOU CAN DO IT blog, but you can do it. Realize what your joys are in life, and go after them. Stop making excuses for yourself and buckle down and enjoy your life. Make something of it. Be passionate.

*pats you on the back and says, “You can do it buddy.” *As I push you out of your self-made boundaries.
